    Buildbotics any body ever Use?

But can you actually do something with it? Thinking of getting rid of a good drill press that never gets used and taking on this below as another project. But has anyone used the Buildbotics controller that has been suggested on another site?

Centroid Acorn. A friend of mine has done a half dozen of those machines with larger steppers and Acorn and they work pretty well. Motor becomes the weakest link, but a 1 or 2hp Chinese spindle on it would solve that.

I have the Centroid Acorn/cnc12 combination on several of my 3-axis cnc machines and am quite happy with the performance, ease of use, and reliability.

Are they sturdily enough to do steel with light cuts?

Its a Dynamyte 2400 CNC and OEM software and controller from the 80's. Folks are reusing the 48 vdc Power supply and stepper motors, and some of the limits. I have worked with Mach4 and can do with that but the Buildbotics comes with just about everything you need for about $500.

Yes, with small cutters, probably not bigger than 1/4", carbide and small depth of cut and width of engagement. 3/16" would probably do better. I have some videos on my YouTube channel of one that I did a bunch of test running for my friend.
