    Oil/Wax Finish

I'd like to make a beeswax/mineral oil finish for some kids toys I'm making. What's the ratio and how do you mix the two together?

i generally go with a 4 to 1 ratio. 4 parts mineral oil to 1 part beeswax. I bought a small crock pot from wally world (about $10), just for this application. Works well and if you desire, can just leave the mix in the crock. Stir constantly until it starts to cool when you shut it off.

Thanks for the reply Steve. Do you reheat the mixture when you use it?

yeah great finish for boards and misc. and food safe,

my gal then waxes the boards with beeswax after the initial soaking just seals them some. problem here in the desert is they tend to bleed the oil if left in the sun directly or if at a craft show and temp goes up.

we just tied some obies oil on some, nice stuff, but pricey
