    Creeker's Past Week's Accomplishments

    6 Jun 2022

    Greetings,
I've been able to get some good progress on the queen bed project. The rails have been cut, sanded and now I have the Golden Pecan stain on headboard, footboard and rails. This coming week, I hope to have the clear coating done and ready for delivery by the coming weekend.
I also made and shipped out 3 edge-grain cutting boards we as as finishing up an end-grain cutting board for my youngest son. I think I'm finally getting a handle on the grieving process over the loss of my oldest son and mentally being ready for shop work once again. I just never thought it would take so long to get back to some resemblance of what I used to know as "normal" again.

That's it for me, so what did YOU do this past week?

Best of weeks to you all.
    Thanks & Happy Wood Chips,
    Dennis -

'Glad the bed is coming along, Dennis!

This past week, I got a lot done with the site prep for my shop building. (Photos in the thread in Workshops) Part of that was remediating the aging pressure release valve on the Big Orange Power Tool as that took it from anemic performance back to like-new lifting and digging. I'm sad I didn't learn about this hack years ago! I'm essentially ready for stone to build the base which will have to be done in layers. Today, I'm taking elevations to calculate the stone required and will go from there. I have some stone available to salvage next door, too, which will help with the task. With any luck, I'll have the base done later this week...the builder emailed twice last week asking if it was ready and I had to explain that I literally just got the permit and my magic wand just wasn't performing well when I wiggled it and exclaimed "Expectoris Basis Rockis Flatis". Sheesh...and I bet it will still be a "hurry up and wait" scenario since I was quoted 12-20 weeks from permit by the sales person.

I'm currently ready to stain the second entryway bench order I got from the first bench's FB Marketplace ad. Same customer, she just wanted another (smaller) one.

No real shop time for me last week. I did get some outside work done since the weather was nice, and I got the underlayment installed in the hallway to the garage. I have some sheetrock patching to do and painting before I install the finish flooring.
