    wood haul

So this is what 225 board feet of poplar looks like.

We decided to mill our own molding (you can see my sample base profile on the right of the stack). To save some wood, and cost, the base is 9/16 thick so I had purchased 6/4 and asked the mill to resaw. Many of the boards were actually true 6/4 or just over. After resaw, most of the boards are about 11/16, some a bit thicker. When I mill the molding I'll use the slightly thinner boards for the shorter pieces so I won't end up going too thin after milling them down to thickness. And to boot, they delivered it all to me for a reasonable price which was a huge savings in time and effort.

Now to get to work after I let the wood acclimate a bit.

It will acclimate better if it is stacked off the floor with stickers, stickers in between layers and weighted down.
