That looks nice. Is the shaper origin like a cnc and follows the path automatically or do you have to manually move it along the path much as you were doing when you were tracing the chicken on your Calcomp board?
Thanks,
David
The Shaper Origin is a sort of manual/CNC hybrid. It looks like a normal router, but can move the bit about an inch or so in X and Y. You roughly trace your pattern, and the small motion allows it to follow the lines much more accurately than you could by hand. It also has a power Z axis, so it can handle plunging and retracting the bit. One "macro" (for example) is drilling a hole in multiple passes; you get the bit within an inch or so of where you want the hole, then it can use (for example) a 1/4" bit to make whatever hole size you need by spiraling it around.
Thanks for the video! the origin is an interesting thing.
shaper origin has some good uses, but it needs a single line to properly cut, where as a cnc will engrave between 2 lines
