    "Weed Pots"

Trying to get a head start on table decorations for the banquet at SWAT this year. Theme this year is "Weed Pot" or dried flower vase.
A couple of Oak w/bark, Cypress, Cherry w/bark, Holly with Modern Metals copper patina finish and a couple of Osage pieces.

Nice! I'm partial to the cypress, I like how the grain lines of the wood and the form of the piece play off on another, with the bullseye on the bottom and the concave lines at the waist. The osage pieces are a close second IMHO.

    Thanks for posting your work.

    Best,

    Dave

Nice looking weed pots. I turn a few of them occasionally.

I wanted to turn some more last winter, but didn't go out and find green branches cut Nov-Feb. My experience is that the bark will not stay attached when green wood is cut April through August or early September, before the new cells are hardened.

    Isn't "weed pot" redundant?

Nice work. I'm partial to the last one. Feels sculpted from a block

Completed some more "Weed Pot" before the bad weather moved in. Don't like running the lathe or big saws during storms, so will have to wait for the weather to clear before getting back in the shop. They are Mahogany, Walnut and Poplar with a spray lacquer finish.

Too funny! Twig pot is the politically correct term.

I think you may have identified a whole new market for these things
