    Pretty kewel how they can use devices like that these days to precisely locate a leak.

    I agree with you that there is the potential that this could be just the first instance of failure over time. Let's hope it's not.

    Seems like a hot water line under a slab is a failure waiting to happen, 'expansion' ...

    City building codes in NW Arkansas require all water lines under the slab, no attic installs. No joints allowed under slabs.

    They came and fixed it yesterday. Repaired the leak they found then tested again and found another one a little further down the line and fixed it. Received our water bill for last months' usage and it was double our average so a lot of water leaked out. Our homeowner's insurance covered the cost other than our $1K deductible. Total bill was a little over $4K. We'll find out in December how much the insurance goes up and how well the insulated PEX holds up to freezing temps in the attic. Will have to keep a faucet dripping if it stays below freezing for a number of days in a row.
