    Not quite the same thing, but a 'Jeopardy' question last night involved using iron and wood to produce wootz, a form of steel similar to Damascus steel.

    (The wood in this case is actually bamboo, used as a source of carbon.)
    Yoga class makes me feel like a total stud, mostly because I'm about as flexible as a 2x4.
    "Design"? Possibly. "Intelligent"? Sure doesn't look like it from this angle.

    I think wootz steel was used to make Damascus steel.
