    Makita Router guide

I'm looking to buy a decent well made straight guide/fence for a Makita RF1101. I found 1 that's made in UK for about 85 bucks. https://www.amazon.com/Makita-Parall.../dp/B0193EJAYA
I'm wondering if anyone has used a guide made by another manufacture on the Makita ?
The one Makita sells for about 20 bucks I don't like as the guide part seems really short. I need to rout out some door bottoms for concealed sweeps on stain grade DF doors & can not afford any mistakes. I think the longer guide & a better built will help avoid any problems.
    Thanks

Yeah, the Bosch version of that is pretty well designed and executed. Not sure if the stock rods would be the same diameter, but that should be easy to overcome.

Unfortunately the hole centers on the Makita are 2 3/8", the Bosch one that looks very well made is 4" center to center of rods. If it was just the rod diameter it would be easy to overcome.
    Thanks

Didn’t give that a thought Lou, sorry. TheM-power is nice and I think flexible, but in the $100+ range.

Can you add a longer wood face to the Makita guide? I have done that a lot with my Makita plunge router. Another option might be a homemade base like in this video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DV9Cb_-Axos&t=652s.

I used my Porter Cable biscuit cutter and followed up with a slot cutting bit to do that exact same job. It was a bit more tedious - but - it worked very well.

My granddad always said, :As one door closes, another opens".
    Wonderful man, terrible cabinet maker...

That video looks like a great way to go and having guides on both faces of the door would really stabilize the router. I'm going to order some plastic and make one.
    Thanks for all the replies.
