What is the symbolism of this?

C1BED8EC-16CC-4B5C-B614-5DC859C8C258.jpgWe have this piece that will probably be sold Friday, which makes me sad, as I have been admiring it, but it is the nature of the business. It is a Gillows piece and very beautiful. What I want to know about is the knight’s armored hand with a falcon on it. There has to be a symbolism there. I asked my buddy who wrote a book about Templar symbolism (Brian Skillen- “The Way Through a Field of Stars”) and he didn’t have anything. I’m asking the community because we seem to have an expert on everything here.

It’s a gauntlet. They didn’t come in pairs, You just use one. Mideval ….not the slightest evil ,or worst evil.

It’s a metal glove with articulated fingers…. So ,a glove that talks. Remember ,there were no guns to “do the talking’ “

Not to my taste, but that's a beautiful piece. I thought maybe it was a falconer's glove, but I imagine it's more likely it would be heavy leather.

I thought so at first, but it has rivets and is clearly armor.

Google search says the two pieces represent “man of action”

Symbolism? "Buy a stronger glove" maybe?

or "a bird on the hand is worth more than the turd they're sitting on" ...

(seriously, I don't know what that is under the iron glove but it looks like a turd--)

I will never be able to look at this again without seeing a turd.
