I am going to buy one or the other to use exclsively in a table w a Kreq router lift. Which router would ve a better choice?

EVS would be the only one to consider for me; in fact, that's what's in my router table. If you plan to use bits greater than 1" in OD the EVS is the only choice. Even with smaller diameter bits it's still a great choice.

Agreed, i use the variable speed all the time in my handheld router, i couldn't imagine not having variable speed available in the router table.

I have the Craftsman version of the 1617EVS router in my table. It's worked flawlessly except for dust in the switch once. Disassembled and blew it out. I added an on/off switch on the table so the only thing I ever do is raise or lower the RPM's occasionally as needed. I vote for the EVS version.
