I have done in the past (wood veneer) but i found this project , drew it and though i would try it as shown , with vinyl
I like the effect
Even as a kid I was fascinated by inlay and marquetry. Linoleum floor inlay was probably the impetus. I had just about forgotten that
impetus thing ! Those floors were nice, I think ‘twas “polyurethane” that killed the linoleum.

Marmoleum is a natural, old fashioned flooring that is gaining popularity. Some of my clients have used it for simple checkerboard designs. Here is a web image of a cool Marmoleum floor.
