I just finished up this project and installed it Friday. All the solid walnut was resawn and cut from the same 8/4 board. The client wanted simple and elegant with some pop in her mostly white kitchen.
The heart shape was hiding inside and revealed itself after resawing / bookmatching. Gotta love walnut! Should make a nice place to sit down and take off your shoes
Finish is Emtech 6000 waterborne lacquer. Not the absolute most durable but I had a gallon kicking around and thought this would be a good project for it. I prefer Milesi or Renner typically but didn’t have any in stock. The Emtech is very forgiving to spray, I’ll say.
