As I recall, the U-rope-ee-uhns have had a general tendency to take the kitchen with them when they move. All of it. Cabinets included.

Scribes, plinths, & moldings, all just complicate the mover's job; maybe why they leave them out of design??

The diagonal measurement of the cabinet has to be less than the overall height of the ceiling in order to stand the cabinet up in a room. You could build the side panels to the exact ceiling height so they physically touch the ceiling if you stand them up and then assemble the rest of the cabinet between the two side panels after the side panels are in place.

Dead horse and all here since that is not the op's situation but..

You can when there is any part of the accessible house that has a taller ceiling than the install location.

    Not really.

Let’s say that “tall room” is next to the space you want to install those cabinets in. You stand them up in there. Great.

Now you’ve got to lean them over to get them through the door and then whatcha gonna do ?

Accessible was the key there. If you have to go through a door it's not accessible. Works good with kitchens next to great rooms, foyers or stairwells (if you have the room) or any time there is a tall ceiling with no obstruction between rooms.

If you any tall Accessible space you can move it.

Pretty sure everyone has a good handle on how to fit a square peg in a square hole.

The question was how to design the square peg in the first place, not how to twist, spin, turn the peg. And Matt's project is in a mudroom - spaces that tend to not be open to rooms with higher ceilings.
