    Does your Dustopper do this?

I’ve started to use a Dustopper with my Ridgid shop vac. The Dustopper lid makes a very loud whine or whistle (it’s so loud that it makes the shop vac sound pleasant).

Has anyone else encountered this? Does this occur with a Dust Deputy?

    Thanks in advance!

I built a DIY chip catcher for my shop vac following a youtube video (2 of 5 gallon bucket) and no whistle here. Is your lid on tight?

Sounds like you have a leak. Check to see if you have everything on tight.

I sort of recall one of the issues people had with the "5 gallon bucket" type separators was some kind of noise issue - which is why I opted to just get the Dust Right unit from Rockler years ago.
Anyhow - my failed attempt at a shop made one (don't use a metal trash can -DAMHIKT ) sent me off in the direction of just getting a complete system.
    I'm very happy with mine.

It works 100% with either the dust collector or a shop vac.

I think I heard there can be problems using any old bucket. I put mine on a new Home Depot bucket & no problem.

BTW I did a comparison to a Dust Deputy no question the DD has more suction.

Mine had a slight whine also. I added some small foam insulating material in the lid's channel, the kind that comes on a roll. That solved the problem and probably improved performance too.
