Maybe some Catalog Denison could figure this one out..

The bit is a #3...another view?

Came in handy, today, though. The "chuck" does hold the bit firmly...without any wobble.
Hmmm?

Not sure IF this was a second level Spofford, or just a copy-cat Fray.....Split chuck holds the tapered, square ends of bits nice and snug...no wobble to this Weeble . Not sure IF that apple shaped top is OEM, or "aftermarket" when the original broke? Doesn't really match the wrist/sweep handle, does it.
I am sure this is in someone's catalog, somewhere.....

Those split chuck braces look nice and light weight, and quick to change bits. I've never tried one though.
Am I right about the "quick to change bits" part?
I've always wondered why everyone goes for the universal chuck, and then never uses modern bits in them. Seems like the old split chucks would be better in that case.
About one turn of that wing nut. May just leave this bit in it....never know......
Just checked the bit...it is a #4....aka 4/16"....otherwise known as 1/4"....
