    project ideas

    Hi all,

So I need a project idea for this walnut slab. I have a few more so any ideas are good. This one I flattened and debarked this morning.

    thanks in advance.

The corner shelf might be an idea if i can figure out where to put it, and need to figure out what to do with the rest. Another Charcuterie board is not a good idea.

It is 36" long, 31 if I cut off some checking vs fill with resin. it's between 10 and 11 inches wide but also not 100% staight.

That narrow width might work for a hall table or sofa table.

Well that helps me make something out of it. If worse comes to worse, I can clean up the edges and use it as a regular board. Not to mention the other 3 slabs I have, one a little smller, the other two are about 6 feet.

The shape suggests a trestle table or bench if used in pairs.

I had the same thought Tom...I usually think of a project and then get what I need...I usually end up in trouble when my stock dictates my project. But I appreciate your creative approach Justin and will follow this with interest.

I will come up with something. It warped a bit after flattening even though I made sure it had air all around, so i'll lose another1/8" maybe to flatten it again.

I don't have a matching pair unless I use another slab and take off the live edge, make some wide plank boards and do a bench. That is actually a good idea and i'll think more about it. I am not set on using live-edge.
