Hi all, I'm trying to buy something from Lee Valley and I need to spend another $20 for free shipping (he falls for trap). Was thinking about adding the Veritas scalpel to use as a marking knife; any thoughts here? Should be good for this, no?

Why not just get the Veritas striking knife? That's made for marking.
Personally, I'd get an aluminum and steel try square for $32.
My favorite way of getting up to the minimum for the free shipping is to look through the specials > https://www.leevalley.com/en-us/tools/special-offers
There are also specials in hardware, home, kitchen and garden.
Hopefully this doesn't get them all to be gone on my next visit.

Found the Xacto knife set works just fine.....YMMV
A Planer? I'm the Planer, and this is what I use
My Xacto knives are good for cutting stencils but a little light for marking joinery:

These have been in use for well over 40 years now.
