    Regular lacquer on metal?

Can I use regular lacquer on metal? - the stuff I use to finish cabinets?

I have quite a lot of large metal parts to finish. It would take a lot of rattle cans, spraying would be easier and quicker.

Google doesn't get me an answer.
    Thanks

With a compatible primer, I don't see any major issue. The metal needs to be squeaky clean and totally grease free, too, and that includes "hand grease".

    Thanks Jim.
The steel pieces have been blackened with the bottled patina, and I plan on spraying clear coat lacquer right on top of this.
I'm not familiar with any primer I might need. If there is one can you elaborate please. Thanks again.

I recommend you do a test piece....clean it thoroughly and then spray the finish since you need to go straight to clear.
