    Delta 46-460 headstock bearing fit

I changed out the bearings in my 46-460 yesterday. I was quite surprised how easily the hand wheel side bearing came out. When I replaced it, it was a bit of a struggle to keep it in place when putting the spindle back in place - it kept pushing out. To seat it, I pushed a 1” socket against it while driving’s the spindle in.

Everything seems to be true, doesn’t squeal or chatter. Turned a quick piece and didn’t have any issues.

For others that have replaced these bearings is it common for it to fit that way? I’m corned that the entire bearing will slip in the casting.

Loctite makes a bearing retaining compound if you want a little insurance.

Thank you. I will pick some up to have on hand, just in case. Not sure I want to take everything apart again, quite yet.
