so i got a good stack of some ruff cut boards from my father in law that passed. The problem is i can’t tell what time of wood is there. Im trying to make a table for my kids for christmas and i got some maple plywood and i think theres some maple boards in there but i can’t tell them apart. Help

If you have a block plane you could plane a small section and post a pic and someone may be able to identify it.

Might be helpful to also look at the stuff he built. I would imagine maple/ walnut/ cherry to be the big three, possibly oak. Maybe ,Abe maybe some hickory. Most of us on this site probably have small quantities of a dozen different woods. Can you find some of the things he built.
