    Sharpening Stone Holder

I found a good deal on sharpening stone holders while watching a "Stumpy Nubs" YouTube review. For under $15 they're tough to beat. It's nice to get the stones elevated out of the mess. LINK (no affiliation).

I've used one, very similar, for ages. I found that you don't need to clamp the stone in it. My stones are different sizes, and I just leave it set so the largest one will go in it.

I have a dedicated sharpening sink, but just bought this one to see if it keeps the water off the counter top. I use a running stream of water. I haven't used this yet, but was pleasantly surprised at the quality of it. They also make a telescopic version, but this one is plenty large enough for most sinks.

My stones are of the "spritz and go" variety so I don't need a sink. Good thing as my shop doesn't have one. I just set these in a silicone tray that catches all the drippings.

  4. I have one. Fair warning, it can rust. There is a stainless version for $20 or so I may try out someday. For now, I am using a $35 Suehiro sink bridge and a piece of terry cloth I cut from a pair of pants my kid outgrew.

    Hi,
I just built one of these, from some Red Oak.

Works well for my kitchen knives!

Very nice! I was thinking about doing something like this. And wondering why more people don't make their own out of wood!

I mostly use oilstones but I do play around with waterstones and Jnats.
