    Walnut Range Hood Surround

I just finished up this project and installed it Friday. All the solid walnut was resawn and cut from the same 8/4 board. The client wanted simple and elegant with some pop in her mostly white kitchen.

The heart shape was hiding inside and revealed itself after resawing / bookmatching. Gotta love walnut! Should make a nice place to sit down and take off your shoes

Finish is Emtech 6000 waterborne lacquer. Not the absolute most durable but I had a gallon kicking around and thought this would be a good project for it. I prefer Milesi or Renner typically but didn’t have any in stock. The Emtech is very forgiving to spray, I’ll say.

Thanks for looking. I don’t post much finished work here bc posting photos is kind of a pain compared to other platforms, but maybe I’ll start to share more here.

That looks great. I love Walnut especially with a clear finish.
Boone and the surrounding area is a beautiful part of the state.

Thank you guys for the kind comments. This was a pretty quick project, but glad that I could still make it a bit special. I try and always let the wood speak for itself in my work, and I think that played out well in this case.

Very nice work. The walnut really pops in that white kitchen. I would have looked for a more durable finish than EM-6000, however; I hope it holds up.
