    Outdoor table design question

I'm looking to make a teak table similar to the one pictured, but I'm unsure how to do the top and connect it to the apron. Any advice appreciated.

I'd connect the slats in the top to the aprons with screws which go up through the rail. I choose screws because teak is notorious for being difficult to glue. I don't see how the end slats are supported; they're entirely hanging off the end of the table. I'd probably reduce the overhang, and make the inboard edge of those slats further inboard, so screws going through the apron could reach the slats.

The big challenge of this design, in teak, is the joinery of the legs and the aprons. I'd be concerned about relying on glue, and there's little space for mechanical fasteners like screws. I might use some other species than teak.

That design is ok for inside the house, too frail and shy for outdoors. I would worry about a neighbor kid jumping on it, breaking it and
suing for me for having a dangerous attraction.
