    I had never used a router inlay kit to make the template. The link Ed posted makes it look easy enough. Thanks ED.

    Yes a router would make a machine made one. That is what I wanted, to eliminate the minor variations in a hand made template.

    Most of the tutorials only show the use of the kit with a pre-made template. This one shows you how to make a template from any existing piece. This is good for creating your own designs beyond the typical butterfly or similar inlays.

    I realize I'm kinda late to the party, but yes, thank you!

    I've got a particular piece of hardware I want to make an install template for, and I wanted to use the exact hardware as the original pattern.

    This should help immensely!

    It sure helped me on my project. Remembering back when I needed this info my pieces fit like the proverbial glove.
