Over ~48" of board length, I get about .005" of "dipping" in the board. This seems like an acceptable amount, but gluing boards up can leave a slight gap without tight clamping. Is this normal? Will a "better" planer reduce this?

A little confused by the term dipping, but it's the wood moving, not the machine. It's always best to remove material equally from both sides of the board.
I got a better straight edge. Not so much of an issue now.
