    Oh, Boy!

I got a notification yesterday that the Veritas jointer plane I ordered in March has shipped--looking forward to seeing/using it.

That thing is a beast. I stopped my collection at #5 but played with it at a woodworking show a few years back. I love my veritas planes

    Congratulations!
I have one of those and it's a nice tool.

The Bevel-Up Jointer or the Custom 7? If the BUJ, it's a wonderful plane. I find try to find reasons to use it even when I don't need a jointer. The only negative I've found is the japanned and non-flat sides – it makes it impossible to use the edge of the sole as a straightedge. Other than that, you're in for a treat.

Custom 7. I've got a 7 1/2 LN bevel up that I'm fond of using. Truth is I've got WAY too many planes, but--

Don't ever tell my wife that. I stopped counting after about 50:

    1) That isn't all of them.
    2) That is an old picture.
    3) There have been additions since then.
    4) It is hard for me not to buy a well priced plane at a yard sale or anywhere else for that matter.

Jim, you seem to have cornered the market on combination planes!

There is also an old wooden plow plane, a #46, an old type 4 #45 and a #55 in the shop. Over the years it seems the most needed to be set up for a single job has been three. Not long ago an extra one was offered for sale to someone who never got back to me. My grandson Mike and his sister are visiting. Mike was using a #45 a couple days ago on a box making project. He will likely get to take one and a few other tools home with him when he heads back south.
