    Patio Table

Just finished up this patio table and benches. It is Red Grandis. I enjoyed working with it and found it stable and pleasant to work with. Medium density. Lots of Mortises and tenons. 6 coats of Epifanes. With the onset of nice fall weather in NC this table is already getting a lot of use.

I keep it covered when not in use, which should minimize the rate of degrade. Beyond that do you have any recommendations for upkeep?

A cover is your best protection from UV damage. I do the same with the outdoor furniture pieces I have after rehabbing an Epifanes finish twice over 6 years. Since I started using the covers I've done zero further maintenance.

I couldn't tell from your photo if the pieces sit directly on the ground or not. If they do then adding some plastic or rubber feet underneath would prevent water from wicking up into the wood and greatly extend the life.

Thanks for the response. I am glad to hear that when covered rehabbing is less than every three years.

I did mortise in some PVC feet to keep it off the ground.

That's a really nice looking table for outside-nicer than my dining table!
