Samsung printer will not print. makes copies.

I have a samsung lazer printer/scanner/copier. It copies just fine and prints them out. When I try to print something from the computer it shows an error of "no paper" and does not print.

I'd start with making sure you've got the newest print drivers installed. Also, assuming you're using Windows of some flavor, try to print a test page.

Don't know if your printer has more than one paper tray but if it does maybe the setting for the default tray when printing is set to a tray with no paper in it.

A model number might help on this.

As Barry mentions it could be an issue caused by multiple paper trays and preference settings.

It could also be a problem caused by low yellow toner. Many printers will not work without an ample supply of yellow for reasons having to do with Homeland Security.

How this issue is presented to the user is left up to programmers.

A little more research suggests it is not set to the correct paper tray. It is looking for manual feed paper. I was not aware that was an option. I do not think it has more then one paper tray.
Model is express m2880fw. black only. running off a mac mini computer.
The onboard control panel is not exactly like the ones shown online so will have to hunt deeper to find the paper settings beyound portrait/landscape.

You do have a manual paper tray feeder. Here is your manual online:

I would look at your print settings on the program you are using while trying to print. Also, it looks like there is a critical print driver update available.
While you are there, might as well install the latest firmware update.

Looking at the manual it appears there is a manual feed door above the paper tray. Open and close it to make sure it isn't keeping you from printing.

Or better yet..... put some paper in it and see if it prints from there

We have the 2870fw. The manual feed is basically a manual bypass slot, one sheet at a time. I'm not versed on Mac, presumably there's a default printer settings page somewhere. Make sure it's using the paper drawer as default paper source not the manual feed.

Bill, also try removing and re-adding the device in Settings and doing a test print once recognized.

Thanks for the help. I had to remove and install the driver. That did not fix it. then I had to turn it off and leave it off for 30 minutes that fixed it. It had been looking for envelope size paper in the manual feed slot.
It was confusing to get the correct driver I thought they were spam websites until a few days of looking. Turns out samsung is gone and Hewlett Packard took over the brand. So all the factory driver downloads are not in a samsung.com site
