    Bowl from Burl

Cherry, ~14" dia. Burl donated by a former student. This burl was ~24" in diameter before smoothing and coring so more bowls to come. Finish is Howard's Feed-N-Wax. Insert to hold the coin is Sapele dyed black with India ink. Mixed some of the ink with Titebond for the glue.

Speed? I really don't monitor RPMs when turning. For this it was about finding the sweet spot of sharp tooling, smooth tool application, and safety gear in case something goes stupid. I wear a leather apron over a bicycle jersey. FWIW, the jersey seems to shed swarf really well.

    Thanking all for the comments.
