    Freud FT2000E collet

I'm just going to post this for search engines to find. I have a Freud FT2000E 3.25 h.p. router in a table. It's a great machine but was discontinued at least in the U.S. when Bosch bought Freud's power tools a number of years ago. Bosch is supposed to support them but for how long I don't know, have never needed service in 10 years of light use. I did replace the shielded lower bearing with a Fafnir sealed bearing but that was DIY. I did spend some time researching replacement collets because collets are regarded as a wear item. It turns out that according to a few web sites, collets that work in the DeWalt 625 nee Elu also work in the FT2000E. Elaire corp. has collets for the DeWalt 625 type2 (don't know if type 2 matters) in numerous sizes. I think Elaire is regarded as a step up in quality from OEM and are not outrageously priced, about $25.

Good to know. My Freud 2000 just won't quit. Bought it in the mid 90's and use it when I need a heavy duty router.
