I received a 6x6x3" spalted tamarind blank by mistake and was told to keep it. Maple is the only spalted wood I've turned (haven't gotten to the beech yet John) and it has often required a little thin CA stabilization for soft spots. Wondering if anyone can tell me what to expect with the tamarind?

The wood database says that tamarind is pretty dense wood (0.85), but this blank feels much lighter than that, making me think it might be pretty punky.

Best,

Dave
