    Even though it is a lot of information to absorb and best practices to learn, it is much less confusing than the average sharpening thread! Everyone at least seems to agree on the math and physics principles that dictate the appropriate alternative solutions.

    FWIW, I have standard extension cords outside around the barn that routinely get stepped on by me, llamas, horses, run over with truck and trailer, lawnmowers, etc. Some are over 10 years old, outdoors winter and summer. (If over gravel I move a cord before driving over it.) Real electricians cringe at all this by my experience is positive - not one failure.

    Stepping a cord on smooth concrete or wood floor seems reasonable to me.

    Ever been to a County, or State Fair? All that black electrical cord you see on the ground, that thousands of people walk over, is some type of SO cord. I've never tripped over one in 48 years of walking with them under foot.
