    Expensive Yard Sale find

    At least for me,
    Aug. 20 Sales, asking price.JPG
    Type 3..
    Aug.20 Sales, front view.JPG
    Millers Falls No.9
    Aug.20 Sales, starbord side.JPG
    Final price? $12.75..sheesh..
Aug.20 Sales, Frog rear view.JPGAug.20 Sales, Frog face.JPG
    Aug.20 Sales, handled.JPG
    Aug.20 sales, name logo.JPG
Seems to be an early 1942 era model...Depth adjuster is still brass, bolts for the handles are one piece Blued steel.....handles are stained hardwood..

Having to work past a BIG chip in the center of the iron's edge....

    Film at 2300hrs..

    Cleaned up nicely enough
    20 Aug. Sales, rehabbed.jpg
Some from that era had steel depth adjuster wheel, some were even 2 piece things...this one was a tad older...
    20 Aug. Sales, rehabbed stern.JPG
As it has a Brass depth adjuster wheel. The bolts were blued steel one piece things...the 'blue" on mine was just about all rusted off..went ahead and polished them up..
    20 Aug.Sales, rehabbed front deck.JPG

Sole was flat..iron....not exactly Fixed that, and tried to get that HUGE chip out of the edge of the iron...98% is gone, now...

    They called a #4 sized plane a Number 9...

Looks a little better, now.....so, I now had a Type 2, a type 3 (this one) and a Type 4....I do not have the Type 1, and do NOT want the Type 5...

That came out very nice, which is not a surprise.

I should look for a #2 or #1. I have a #3 waiting for me to clean up, I just need the time to do it. I hope it cleans up well and works.

I have always wanted to visit this, but, I told my Father that I would help him build a few computers.

    Nice work!

I too have a #9 that I inherited. It's my favorite hand plane.
