White Oak veneer and glue bleed thru

How bad is the problem? How well do the Unibond bleed thru blockers work?

What kind of glue do you recommend?

    Cheers,

i use the two-part urea resin unibond, with the blocker, and spread it somewhat thin. you should be fine.

White oak does not have wide open pores like red oak. If it did, there would be a lot of wine on the floor of the warehouses! You don't say how you plan on pressing the veneer. I can't recommend an adhesive without more info.

Just make a sample and see what happens. If you get significant bleedthrough, reduce your glue film thickness or add a blocker. Titebond Cold Press is a pva glue with nut flour mixed in to inhibit bleedthrough. Unibond 800 has proprietary bleedthrough blocker that can be used in various proportions, and you can add thickeners like wheat flour to urea formaldehyde glue, but start with adjusting the glue spread.
