    You could easily use 1”. If there are any irregularites in the slab, a larger diameter will handle the steps better.

    conduit costs more then white pvc pipe in equal wall thickness. All pipe and conduit comes in thin and thick wall. Round steel rebar stakes will not crush under many loads but the diameter is small.
    Just use white pvc thickwall pipe.

    Just fill some sched-40 PVC with cheap play-sand and glue on some end caps. Strong and non-metallic-

    Schedule 80 Gray Conduit is designed to be buried and run over with cars and trucks.

    Endcaps have to be flush with the outer diameter. maybe turn some plugs on the lathe.

    I moved 2 door commercial reach in refrigerators & freezers down hallways on 3/4" PVC SCH 40 pipe, and it worked quite well, as would not go through doorways if the casters were installed.
