    Home for Wayward Spokeshaves

Since I still had some left over scraps of Ash....maybe a Frame &Panel style of lidded box...Panels are 1/4"-3/8" thick resawn Ash...frames are 3/4" x 3/4" 'sticks"....Also, a bit of Tongue & Groove joints for the corners....instead of my usual Box/Finger joinery....
    The Project Post, all done.JPG
No stain was used, either...just 3 coats of Amber Shellac...followed by 3 coats of Clear Gloss Poly...

Inside? 2 Pine racks are glued to the pine floor...
    The Project Post, 4 shaves.JPG
Since I had 4 spokeshaves, needed slots to hold them..
    The Project Post, chained lid.JPG
A chain was added to the lid, to control how far back it leans..
    The Project Post, end view.JPG
    End view..
The Project Post, back of the box.JPG
    Brass hinges, mortised in place..
    The Project Post, Front view.JPG
A simple latch out front...even has a "Brand" name..
    The Project Post, brand name.JPG

Most of the panels needed a beveled edge to fit into the 1/4" grooves...all bevels are on the inside.
Size? Standing at 5-1/2" tall ( feet are 1-1/2" tall...is 7-1/4" front to back, and is 12-3/8" long/wide....

Just using up scraps, rather than burn them..
A Planer? I'm the Planer, and this is what I use

Looks good Steve. You are going to need to build a cabinet to be the home for your custom tool storage boxes!
