$1 yard sale find

Picked up a 24" Starrett no.410 rule today.
Looks pretty good. Just needs cleaned up a bit.

0000 steel wool and balistol worked good on mine. The balistol isn't necessary but it's just what I do. It's kind of hard to see how rusted it is in your picture though. If it's a light surface rust I usually use balistol and steel wool, but for heavier rust I would use something like evaporust and then use steel wool.

I think you overpaid for that. Send it to me and I will send you your $1.00 back. NICE FIND ! I might suggest that you spray some WD40 on it and rub it down with crumpled up aluminum foil. The foil is softer than the steel but harder crud on the ruler.
