    Finding center of board

    This is not really a workshop tool, but... this video just came up for me.

    My grandfather who was a carpenter taught me that trick. It is a lot faster than doing the math.

    I make a quick division in my head, and make a mark from both edges. Cut between them.

    But if you're making multiple divisions, like rows of holes, the angled tape, or rule, is king.

    Just a quick FYI having just seen this. I find that using a framing square is more accurate for me than using a tape measure. Sometime the tab on the end of the tape measure will make the measure short or long where it doesn't happen with a framing square.
    Just 2 cents.
