I also prefer a large vintage jointer. It is quite the commitment so only for the serious craftsman.
Before the China virus the used market was great in my area. It’s very much picked clean.
I don’t recommend the older machines much anymore since it’s getting harder to find and not many really want to dedicate the space.
Today mantra is I want convenience I want more bang for my buck. I don’t have time to fix something that could or should be in a museum.
I just want to make a farm table and coat it with epoxy.
I still believe there will be a good used market again in a couple years.
