    Marsh Hand Planes

I picked up a Marsh M4 plane at a yard sale. It has a Hock blade, so obviously not original. The plane itself is in really nice shape.

I read a little about them on another site. Looks like they made Bailey pattern planes after the Bailey patents expired, and then were bought up by Stanley around WWI.

Anybody know if these are super collectible, or not? I assume any collectibility is gone with the aftermarket blade, but thought I would ask before I start fooling with it.

I’ve seen a few Marsh items (planes, vises) listed on Craigslist here in NoCal. Not sure about collectibility, but the people listing them seem to think they’re worth more than I do. Nice stuff, though.
