    Mystery Plane

Can't find any information on these 2 planes. They are marked W J R 1958. It's the only marking on the tool. The bottom of one is slightly curved, second plane has a pronounced curve on bottom. The irons are very thick, over 4mm. Anyone know of this brand? Why the curved sole?IMG_0874.jpgIMG_0875.jpgIMG_0878.jpgIMG_0876.jpgIMG_0877.jpg

WJR 1958 would be the owners innitials, and more than likely the maker of those 2 wooden bodied planes.

There's no doubt the one plane is intentionally curved, could it be that the second plane has warped over time and is no longer flat? Is that attributed to the plane body and sole being a single piece?

Both irons match the sole profile, correct? If so, the sole profiles were intentional. More than likely these were special purpose planes dedicated to cut coves in some application.
