    Bit of good fortune

My BIL asked me to help him identify some tools and equipment in his wife's brother's estate. He was a real hoarder, but also a retired machinist and he loved to shop at flea markets, etc. In return for my help, I got to bring home a few goodies:

You really got some good stuff there! That deep fret saw is definitely a keeper...it's a problem solver for sure.

I didn't know what they were when I grabbed them, just thought they would make good push stick or jig handles. But it turns out they are handles for interchangeable double sided rasp or float blades. I don't recall seeing any of the blades amongst the stuff, but if I had known what they were I probably would have looked more carefully.

They're autobody work file holders. Pretty old school.
