    Key Safe

Had a stack of left over Ash cut-offs. Resaw them down to about 3/8" thick....bookmatch the best into a lid/door. Others were box/finger jointed into an 8" x 12" box....too thin the groove the sides for the bottom panel....glued the panel onto 3/8" x 1x4" slips that were mitered into place...

Along the way, design was change from just a run-of-the-mill box into a Key Safe. A box/tray was added to what is now the bottom, and a bar was added to hold 4 cup hooks...stained the Ash, two coats of Clear Gloss Poly....and then an installation..

BTW, that silver "Key" on the door? Was scroll sawn fro 1/4" thick Ash...and spray painted with 2 coats of silver.

Pilot holes for 3 screws to attach to the door

Magnetic latch to keep the door shut...and..we are open for business...

2 screws, with washers, go through the back panel, and into the wall. Hidden by the keys hanging there. The box/tray at the bottom, is for all them orphan keys that nobody remembers where they went to.

Just a way to use up scraps, rather than burn them.

    Thanks for looking in!

That's a really nice project result. Good choice with the "key" handle, too.

The most expensive tool is the one you buy "cheaply" and often...
