    A new market, bird owners

I saw this on clist and had to laugh. It is posted in the mountains where it is easy to find fallen branches, heck even complete trees. They only want $75!

You ever looked through the aquarium aisle at a pet store? This doesn't seem out of line with that market at all.

Seems like a simple thing, but getting things to stay together isn't always easy. (we are owned by birds here) And you cannot use just any species. Manzanita is one of the most prevalent species used because of its hardness and fine bark that tends to stay in place. Bird beaks can destroy most wood products VERY quickly. Even small birds like Budgies.

BTW, anyone choosing to do this, you MUST use stainless steel hardware for safety. Other plain "plated" hardware can be toxic to birds.

I always thougt Manzanita was a wesern thing since it is a Spanish name. Same as Myrtlewood is Oregon.
