I just finished this walnut shoe bench for some friends of mine. As is typical, it developed quickly from a simple shoe rack, then to having a bench for their kids, and then some additional design "decisions." I got bitten by the neanderthal bug a few years ago, so this was built exclusively without power tools (except for a drill at the very end). It has its share of mistakes (dovetail pins put in the wrong spot, 1/2" shorter than planned, etc.) but in the end I'm pretty pleased with how it came out.
