    Upside to deafness is never using a phone. I do get a spam text occasionally.

    We use caller ID and if your name doesn't appear or I don't recognize it, we don't answer. If they are legitimate then they have an opportunity to leave a voice mail, otherwise the phone just rings.

    We do the same as Lee describes and it's surprising how many calls per day where no message is left or how many ring two or three times and stop.
