This maple crotch has been sitting in my shop for about 8 years. Finally decided to cut it in half. Nicely spalted and no punky wood that I can see.
Now I gotta figure out what it is going to be when it grows up

Geez o Pete, how long is that bar?
It does look promising, be anxious to see what it turns out to be (see what I did there?)
And what's that green stuff on the ground? Haven't seen anything like that 'round here. . .
Best,
Dave
....the bar is 28"....that's my new toy and it's sweet!!!
And as far as that green stuff...I have no idea. It's usually brown this time of year....but it's been green all winter.
....except when it was white

I could have used that saw when I asked for a Big old hickory tree the wind blew down, still trying to figure out what to turn with the wood. Some is really nice.
Hickory is some beautiful wood. Is does crack easily but if you can avoid that, it's a real pleasure

Man! That is some chainsaw!
I see a nice bowl coming from that crotch piece.
Can't wait to see the end result, John.
Be Blessed
