Thread: Delta 14" band saw switch.

    Delta 14" band saw switch.

I just bought a Leeson motor 1.5 hp single phase for my Dealt 14” band saw. I followed the motor wiring diagram for 230v. But when I open the switch of the band saw I see five wires: black, white, green, orange and red. Does anyone know where I connect the orange and red wires to the motor? I attached the images.

Thank you very much for your help.

    Regards,
    Sergio

It looks like a double pole switch, meaning it "breaks" both phases. Trace out the black and white, the should go to the plug. If this is the case, orange is L1 and red is L2.

    Orange goes to P1
    P2 gets insulated
    T2, T3, and T8 get wired together
Red goes to T5 and T4

    Stan is correct!

When Stan says P2 gets insulated he means just cap it by itself with a wire nut.

green is always ground in NA. L1 and L2 are power into the motor. P2 is insulated with a wirenut and tucked out of the way touching no other wires. It is just floating not connected to anything.
