3rd Party Rotary for Universal VersaLaser 2.0

Has anyone bought and connected / used a 3rd party rotary on a VersaLaser? I cannot afford their $1200 price. Would you share what you bought, where you bought it; the wiring connections and where you bought the connector?

I tried that when I had my ULS machine, I found a stepper motor one but here is the bad part, hook it up wrong and burn out your main circuit board and its a lot more than $1200.
